The state of IL pass a new law on smoke detectors
Starting Jan. 1 2023 Illinois requires the installation of new smoke detectors in all homes that don't have hard-wired versions The new smoke detectors contain sealed batteries that will last 10 years without the batteries needing to be replaced Stand alone smoke detectors that have 9 volt replaceable batteries will need to be replaced
