The ledger board does not appear properly attached to the building
I was inspecting a back porch in Chicago, and I found the ledger board was not attached properly to the building.
I have an issue with the lag bolts which hold the ledger board to the building. The lag bolts were installed in a straight line, and this can result in a ledger board failure and a collapse. The lag bolts need to be staggered. The ledger board with the lag bolts in a straight line can start to split, and it will follow the grain of the wood. Staggering the bolts the splitting of the wood will not go against the grain of the wood preventing a total collapse of the porch
